Quality Policy

We Believe...

  • Everyone has the potential to succeed
  • Everyone’s views are important
  • We begin and operate from a belief that the person with the learning disability will always be at the heart of all the work we do and that the people we are working with are creative, resourceful and whole
  • People with learning disabilities and their carers are the experts in knowing how they need to be treated as people
  • We are firm in the belief that everyone has the potential to improve their own lives; sometimes this requires supported conditions
  • Everyone can communicate; some sophisticated communicators don’t use a verbal language
  • We believe in equality for all

How We Work

  • We will not promise what we can’t deliver
  • We are allowed to keep some things private – if people do not want to share personal information it will be kept confidential. We won’t talk about anyone until we have met them first and have their consent
  • The bar for the standard of achievement for each and every person is the highest possible and we commit our best skills to get there
  • We won’t do work that the individual can do for themselves; we do not foster dependency.
  • We will maintain links with key partners and allies. We will utilise the expertise of our partners to provide specialist knowledge and advice where needed
  • We do not offer advice
  • We will provide continuous evaluation and recording on our work
  • We will model and promote reflective practice in all areas of our work, aimed at those involved finding and becoming confident in using their own simple reflection tools
  • The Thinking Environment method will be used to provide a basis for our work
  • We will promote the standards of this policy to all helping each other to be equal
  • We will encourage people to be good communication partners; if anyone needs support to express their ideas we will find a way to provide it
  • We will promote inclusion, respect and understanding
  • We will be aware of the language we are using at all times and aim to use universal and meaningful terms which are accessible not isolating
  • We want everyone to have equal time to say what they think
  • We recognise and honour our personal responsibility to our work
  • We will question everything – it’s purpose, it’s intention, who benefits and whether it can be done by the individual or team; providing support where necessary
